All boys are welcome to join!
We meet every second and fourth Thursday of the month at Lynbrook high school at 7:30 pm in room 614.
You are welcome to come by anytime to see how our troop operates.
Benefits of a small troop
- Better support
- Mutual support is a given in our troop: our small size enables scouts to easily mutually bond and support each other, unlike in massive troops where scouts could be completely isolated from another patrol.
- Leadership positions
- In our troop, leadership positions are more easily tangible due to our relatively small size. This enables most scouts to receive leadership responsibility at least once throughout his scouting journey which can be tremendously beneficial later on in life.
- Rank advancement
- In larger troops, rank advancement can be slow due the enormous amount of low rank scouts. However, due to our compact troop size, we can ensure all newcomers enjoy abundant attention from our senior scouts to ensure rapid advancements.
- Instructions
- In other troops, during skill instructions the instructor cannot pay individual attention to the scouts due to a large troop size, which leads to mediocre learning and less success. In our troop, instructions are more personalized and meaningful for the individual scout.
- Closer friendships
- With less people you can make more friends. In large troops you often get shifted around the patrol which results in a difficulty to become familiar with everyone around you. In our troop, everyone knows each other very well, improving teamwork and creating strong friendship bonds.
- Your opinion matters
- In a large troop your opinions are like a snowflake in a snowstorm. In our troop every opinion is heard and acknowledged, so everyone has a say to make our troop a better place
